Why aren't I getting alerts for a case?
If you're not getting alerts for a case when you know it has updates, this can be because of a few reasons:
Your email is blocked
When this happens, we place a large banner across the top of CourtListener to tell you. This happens when we can't deliver messages to you (maybe your inbox was full for too long or your account was disabled).
If this is the case, follow the instructions in the banner.
We don't have the update
We are only able to send emails when we know something is updated. If we haven't gotten the update into CourtListener, we can't send an update. Unfortunately, a lot of legal information is behind paywalls, so we can't always get everything and can't always send alerts.

You have a filtering problem.
Often the problem is that something on your end is filtering our emails from your inbox. We send thousands of emails and sometimes get caught up in their spam filters. Some things to consider:
- Some mail providers filter messages before they even make it to your spam folder. If this is the case, it's very difficult to see that there's a problem since the email never makes it to you.
- Some mail providers will send messages to your spam inbox. Try checking there.
- Sometimes you may have a filter that is catching the message and deleting, archiving, or othewise filtering it.
In general, the solutions are:
- Search your email for messages from courtlistener.com
- Add
noreply@courtlistener.comto your contacts list - If you're using organization email, try talking to your IT department
