How do I delete my CourtListener account?
We get it — Sometimes you want to part ways with a website by deleting your account and walking away.
We support that. Read on to learn how to do it and what happens when you delete your account.
How to delete your account
To delete your account:
Log into CourtListener.
Go to the account deletion page in your profile.
Review the items that will be deleted:

Enter your password.
Press the button to delete your account.
What happens next?
After you submit your request:
- An email will be sent with your username to the CourtListener admins saying an acount was deleted.
- All of your alerts, tags, notes, and other assets will be immediately deleted from CourtListener.
- Records in our database of account history is cleared for your account.
- Your account is converted to a "stub" account that has an unusable password and no personal data associated with it.
- You are permanently logged out.
Restoring an account
Accounts cannot be restored. Sorry.
What is not deleted
A few things will stay in our systems:
- We use the Zoho software suite for customer support, contracting, and various other internal purposes. Any support requests you've filed or notes we may have about your account or related information is not deleted.
- Emails you've sent to us are not deleted.
- We use Neon CMS for donor and membership management. Your donation, membership, and related records are not deleted.
- If you have an older account and made donations directly through CourtListener, such records are not deleted.
- Your account data may be in our database backups until they age out according to our privacy policy.
