Does the RECAP extension collect my PACER username or password?
All browser extensions have special permission to operate on websites you visit. In general, this includes the ability to see the contents of certain webpages, including the values you type or insert into HTML forms.
The RECAP extension has this capacity when you are on a PACER website, but does not need your credentials to operate and does not collect or access this information in any way.
The extension works by:
Monitoring the things you download to your computer while you are on PACER websites, and
Sending copies of your downloads from your computer to the RECAP Archive.
At no point does the extension need, access, store, or use your PACER or CM/ECF credentials and we would consider it a violation of our user's trust to access this information.
