How can I search bankruptcy cases on CourtListener?

CourtListener's RECAP Archive contains information about every bankruptcy that is filed each day. At a minimum, each case will have the following metadata:

  • Case name
  • Filing Chapter
  • Case initiation date
  • Docket number
  • Jurisdiction (court)
  • Presiding judge

Users of the RECAP Extension may also submit filings, docket entries, and other values as well, which are also searchable. We encourage you to install the extension and contribute your purchases too.

The RECAP Archive contains civil, criminal, and bankruptcy cases. To filter to only bankruptcy cases, use the Jurisdiction Picker to limit your search to bankruptcy courts. This query is a good starting point for that purpose.

Using fielded queries, results can be filtered by bankruptcy chapter, trustee name, and numerous other categories.
